The Antara Institute grew out of seeds of compassion, which take root in a soil of suffering. Our focus, in particular, is on the mental and emotional suffering that we humans struggle with and seem to be experiencing with ever-increasing complexity. While we acknowledge the incredible amount of work there is to be done to transform it, we also see untapped opportunities to amend the soil and nurture more seeds to grow into their potential.
Thus our mission was created: to bridge gaps in our mental health care system by providing accessible resources for support, through offerings that integrate ancient wisdom practices with current mind-body research.
The Antara Institute team is made up of a diverse and dedicated group of trauma-informed teachers, practitioners, and therapists with different specializations in holistic health, and with a shared commitment to promote mental health support that is inclusive and accessible.
Interwoven into our mission is a devotion to empower those who are most vulnerable to ongoing disempowering forces.
While our doors are open to anyone in need, Antara’s services are intended, in particular, to reach often-marginalized, alienated, or underserved populations, such as: people living with a mental or physical illness or disability, members of the LGBTQ+ community, folks on the neurodivergent spectrum, those experiencing racial/ethnic trauma, and survivors of physical or sexual abuse.
*Note: The Antara Wellness and Training Center does not currently have the capacity to work with people in need of immediate crisis support, but we will assist you in connecting with resources and direct you to places that do offer these services.
Our services are currently available in-person in Mountain View and Santa Cruz, CA, and virtually.
